Cities and regions are facing a fundamental transformation of their mobility systems. Local authorities can make targeted use of this opportunity by investing more heavily in the expansion of bicycle and public transport infrastructure, thereby creating low-emission alternatives to motorized private transport. These developments also offer the potential to improve the quality of life in cities and strengthen the regional economy.
However, change requires a clear strategy: local authorities must plan the introduction of integrated mobility solutions in line with demand and make targeted use of innovative technologies in order to leverage mobility for climate-friendly, resilient, and livable urban design.
