Since 2018, we have been monitoring the transformation of all German cities with a population above 30,000. The Haselhorst Smart City Ranking provides insights into the achievements, strengths, and challenges faced by over 400 smart and upcoming smart cities. The resulting database, created using publicly available information and qualitative research, is unique in scope and enables long-term, in-depth analysis.
There is an important change this year: in August 2026, Haselhorst Associates GmbH was legally merged into H&Z Unternehmensberatung GmbH. The expertise as well as the team from Haselhorst Associates Urban Transformation continues and will be further expanded within the H&Z industry Cities & Utilities. The Haselhorst Smart City Ranking will also be continued by H&Z.
